† Where do
the children come from who are placed at CHFC?
back to F.A.Q.
The children who come into placement are referred through public children & youth agencies located primarily in the south central and southeastern regions of Pennsylvania.
† Can the
children placed in the residential program at CHFC be adopted?
back to F.A.Q.
Christ's Home
is committed to working with the children and their families toward
family reunification. However, some of the children will become
eligible for adoption. Additionally, there are some children who
enter placement at Christ's Home for the express purpose to be
prepared for adoption. These children may have been in and out
of foster care and residential placements for much of their lives.
Christ's Home is often the first time they have lived in a family
style atmosphere for any length of time.
† What is
the age range of children in the CHFC program?
back to F.A.Q.
The residential program is for children from birth to 15 years of age.
† How long
do the children stay at CHFC? back
to F.A.Q.
It is the
goal of CHFC to have the children back with their families within
a two-year period. If circumstances indicate that a child will
not be able to return home, a permanent family placement is sought
for the child in cooperation with county agencies or professional
services licensed to make such arrangements.
† Do the children
in residence visit with or see their parents?
back to F.A.Q.
Yes, as long
as it is safe and the provisions of the family are appropriate.
Every effort is made to keep the parents involved with their children
during the period of the child's stay at CHFC. Depending on the
individual service plan for the child, these visits occur either
at the parent's home, or on our campus. In addition, parents are
invited to spend time in our homes to have a mentoring relationship
with the Teaching Parents.
† Does CHFC
allow children to visit with volunteer families on weekends or Holidays?
back to F.A.Q.
In some situations
it is not possible or appropriate for the children in our residential
program to visit with their parents or custodians. The staffing
structure at CHFC does not necessitate finding alternative arrangements
for a child at holiday times. However, in a limited number of
cases approved volunteers are used to provide the child with the
off campus experience enjoyed by other children. Generally there
is an on campus volunteer relationship established before home
visits are approved. Volunteers are carefully screened and appropriate
clearances obtained.
† Does CHFC
have volunteer opportunities? back
to F.A.Q.
Yes, there
is a limited number of volunteer opportunities working directly
with the children. There are also opportunities to help the home
with other functions on the campus proper. Please go to our contact
page to request more information.
† How can
I get on the mailing list for the CHFC newsletter?
back to F.A.Q.
Go to the
contact page and e-mail the necessary information to us, or call
the number listed there for the Administration office or Development
Department.
† How is
CHFC funded? back
to F.A.Q.
Our funding
sources include individual donors, churches, civic organizations,
foundation grants, personal estates and reimbursement for contract
services.
† Do the
children attend public schools, or does CHFC operate it's own school?
back to F.A.Q.
The children
in our Warminster campus are enrolled in the Centennial School
District, while children on our Paradise Campus attend school
in the Pequea Valley School District. The home style atmosphere
provided for the children allows the Teaching Parents the opportunity
to review each day's school and social events, and offer biblical
perspectives on these and other areas of daily life.
† What kind
of donations does CHFC need for it's continuing operation?
back to F.A.Q.
Christ's Home
is a charitable 501©3 organization. Funds for operation and
capital expenses are our greatest ongoing need. Other forms of
donations are helpful and can be coordinated with a representative
on each campus. More information is available if you click on
"Contact Us".
