Overview
Emergency shelter services located on our Warminster campus are provided by Valley Youth House of Allentown. This facility is provided to assist Bucks County with children and teens in need of refuge from various forms of abuse or trauma in their young lives.

Valley Youth House Shelter - Bucks County was opened in Warminster, during March of 2002 to serve Bucks County youth, aged 6-18, referred through Bucks County Children and Youth Services. The Shelter also serves runaway and homeless youth ages 12-17. The 12-bed shelter provides the unique capacity to serve child and adolescent sibling groups while working toward family reunification or longer term residential care. Youth travel to their home schools or attend an in house educational program.

Youth may enter the Shelter and receive counseling and other Shelter services at any time during the day or night. While protecting children from the dangers of the street, counselors attempt to resolve the crisis that precipitated the runaway incident and obtain long term living situations for the youth.

Facility

Ample common living area is provided as well as allowing space for the children's privacy needs. The shelter is licensed for 12 coed youth and is equipped with a kitchen and dining room area that adds to the family atmosphere. A large living room and accessible indoor recreational area maximize the social, educational, and community living design. Bedroom space is arranged to accommodate one to two youth depending upon the age, gender, and therapeutic needs of the child. The shelter is equipped with laundry facilities for the personal needs of the youth.

The shelter provides space on our beautiful Warminster campus for outdoor recreation such as biking, basketball, and softball and is located near public parks and recreational facilities.

Group Home

The Bucks County Group Home is also operated by Valley Youth Home of Allentown and was opened in 2003 to serve youth referred through Bucks County Children and Youth Social Services Agency. The community-based group home is for 13-18 year old male adolescents who have been removed from their families, foster care, and/or residential programs because of abuse and neglect.
